Before going into , lets see little about what are pushkaralu?In Hindu festivals worshiping rivers once in twelve years along each river is called Pushkaram and in telugu it is called as pushkaralu an Indian festival.We have 12 sacred rivers in India and all these twelve rivers is associated with a zodiac sign, and the river for each year’s festival is based on which sign Jupiter is in at the time.Well when comes to this Krishna river which is also called as Krishnaveni ,krishna Pushkaralu lasts as long as Bruhaspati (Jupiter) remains in the Kanya (Virgo) zodiac sign.

Krishna river is one of the largest rivers in India after Ganges,Brahmaputra and Godavari. Length of this krishna river is about 1300 kilometers originates from Western Ghats of Mahabaleshwar in which flows through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before merging in the Bay of Bengal at Hamasaladeevi in Andhra Pradesh.
As we already discussed above  pushkaram lasts for a period as long as the Jupiter remains in that particular Zodiac sign.According to hindu mythology it is believed that Pushkaradu will travel with Jupiter as ordained by Lord Brahma, as Jupiter travels from one Zodiac sign to another Zodiac sign. During this time all devatas (deities) and rishis take holy dip to purify and make the rivers sacred so that  pilgrims from all over India will descend on the banks of Krishna River to have a holy dip with the belief that they would be relieved from all sins, and perform rituals to departed souls.So when Jupiter comes to Kanya Raasi ,Krishna Pushkaram will be observed.

Usually Krishna pushkarams will be held at several banks of the krishna river.These banks are generally called as Ghats.Already both the governments of Telangana  and Andhrapradesh have started the arrangements for this festival as this is a 12 days festival so that people will come here from all over India to have a dip in the river to wipe off their sins. The first twelve days of are very important days as they are known as Adi Pushkaram, and the last twelve days are called Anthya Pushkaram.
Vijayawada,Guntur,Krishna,Prakasham ,Kurnool,Nalgonda, Khammam and Mahboobnagar are the places which are likely to witness the festive look. Among all of those Vijayawada of Krishna district is the main place where celebrations are made and famous kanaka durga temple is also located on the banks of Krishna River.

In Vijayawada Krishna Pushakalu 2016 Ghats are DurgaGhat, PushkaraGhat, PadmavathiGhat,Metla Bazar, SithanagaramGhat, Punnami Ghat, Siva Kshetram ghat etc and works are going on now to serve the piligrims here. Government will set up large number of Krishna pushkar ghats at Amaravathi, Avanigadda and Diviseema, Hamasaladeevi.
So many temples are located near by vijayawada on the banks of krishna river like Sri venu gopala swamy temple in hamsaladeevi, Vaadapalli Narasimha swamy temple in Nalgonda, Amaralingeswara Swamy temple is located in Amararama which is one of the Pancharama Kshetras which is located at Amaravati town, Sri Prudhweswara Swamy Temple is located at Nadakuduru, Mopidevi Subrahmanyeswara Swamy Temple is located in the village of Mopidevi,Andhra Pradesh are the famous temples. So piligrims can visit these temples after their bath in the holy river Krishna.
Krishna Pushkarams 2016 commences on 12th August  in the morning. During the Krishna Pushkaramlu 2016 Indian Railways have announced that they will add some special trains in order to deal with the heavy rush of the devotees and of course special buses will be run from various districts too.Mostly the list of buses and trains will be announced soon.Government has assigned 1000 crores for this event and blueprint is ready to organizing the .
Let us have holy dip in Krishna river which will enhance one’s spiritual mental and physical abilities.
